    About Heather

Heather studied ballet and modern dance for over 20 years. She began practicing yoga in the summer of 2000 as a way to improve her snowboarding and decrease her "corporate stress," but found more than a physical regimen. The philosophy and lifestyle that is yoga prompted Heather to attend several intensive workshops and retreats to study classical postures, Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, and other Yogic philosophies.

She received her first Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy session during a yoga retreat at Kripalu Center in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, and said "This is what I want to do with my life!" The blend of classical yoga with modern psychology found in PRYT supports Heather's personal mission of "empowering people to feel fully alive," while nurturing her own well being and spirit.

Heather became a certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner in 2003, and has enhanced her skills by studying with Patricia Walden, Stephen Cope, and Sudhir Jonathan Foust. Her current professional development includes enrollment in the Masters of Thanatology (Death & Dying) Program at Hood College. Heather is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists and the Association of Death Educators and Counselors.

She facilitated yoga experientials by the Center for Eating Disorders at Shepherd Pratt during the 2008 National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, and has tranformed the boardrooms of many prestigious corporations with her stress management workshops, including BP Solar and NBC. Heather was a 2003 recipient of the Entrepreneur of the Year award for Frederick County, Maryland.
